It is too often said that music isn't as good as it used to be. It is almost a cliché at this point that "modern music is crap", but I contest that this is not true! So, in an attempt to convert the non-believers out there, here are 8 albums, all released within the last 18 months, which I believe offer so music which is just as rich, original and engaging as the classic artists of the past.

📌 By the way, for the record, this video isn’t a response to Rick Beato’s recent video about modern music being too simple. I actually filmed this video before that. 🙂

The outro song is my track "Running Man" and it is available on my Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artis....t/0wKKJoOZd8JQJDgGU8 🎶

And, an extra special thanks goes to Vidad Flowers, Ivan Pang, Waylon Fairbanks, Jon Dye, Austin Russell, Christopher Ryan, Toot & Paul Peijzel, the channel’s Patreon saints! 😇

Do you think that in 50 years time, people will speak about Taylor Swift the way they do with The Beatles now? Will Ed Sheeran be considered as influential as Bob Dylan? Will Billie Eilish be mentioned in the same sentence as Patti Smith, or will Beyonce be considered as prolific as Nina Simone?

It's weird to think that even though there are so many modern music artists that are extremely successful and well-known, most people would agree that their impact on music isn't anywhere near as meaningful as those who came before them. Does this mean that they're making bad music? No, of course not - there are tens of millions of people around the world who love what they do, and quality really has nothing to do with it - but why is it that they can't really be considered music legends? Why is it that everything from the music we listen to, to the movies and TV shows we watch all feel as though they're universally loved one moment, then forgotten about in an instant?

Well, it's a little complicated, but it's not entirely the fault of the audience. If you're looking for something to blame, then we need to look at streaming services like Spotify, and - the worst offender - TikTok, which for musicians, has become the most outrageously exploitative platform in human existence.

Your attention span isn't getting shorter, tech companies just don't want you to care about one thing for very long.

The Postmodern Era | Modern Classical Music

In the fifth of our music history video series we'll continue to explore the developments of modern classical music as it evolved into the 20th century. Many musicologists believe the we're still in the postmodern period, with many of today's developments and trends being continuations or reactions to the three main branches of Postmodern concern: total control, minimal control, and historical reinvigoration (a return to past styles and aesthetics through modern composition). We'll introduce the main genres that developed to musically address these three areas, and touch on some of the many luminaries whose work came to embody the era.

Join us as we delve into the latest period in classical music history.

Po śmierci matki trafia do pracy do fabryki; ciężko pracuje, żyje w nędzy; w końcu ucieka do swej ciotki Betsey Trotwood, którą pamięta z opowiadań matki i niani Peggotty. Postanawia edukować go w kierunku prawniczym. Mężczyzna ten uwodzi przyjaciółkę Dawida z dzieciństwa Emilkę, namawia ją do ucieczki, a potem porzuca.

Magician David Copperfield travels to Paris to uncover the secrets of the Palais Garnier and its most famous resident, the Phantom.

This rare television special aired on Canadian television in the late 80s, at the height of "Phantom mania". Clearly an attempt to cash in on the success of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, it features numerous clips from the Lon Chaney silent film, as well as the 1943 film starring Claude Rains, Susanna Foster, and Nelson Eddy. Unfortunately, due to YouTube's content ID I've had to remove all portions with the '43 film.

Information about the special is scarce online. For years I've hunted for a copy only to come up short every time. It does not appear to be listed on IMDB and I can only find a few references on various fan sites.

I recently rediscovered my own personal copy, which I have transferred and preserved here. This recording was from a re-broadcast on July 12 1992 on CTV (likely the CKCO affiliate in Kitchener, Ontario). I have edited out the original commercials, as well as done minimal restoration work.

Anyone who can shed more light on this rare special please feel free to do so in the comments. In the meantime, grab your mask, sit back, and enjoy.
