There is a beginning to our cosmos. It will eventually come to an end, but which end? Will everything gradually grow colder and more solitary as the cosmos expands and the stars and galaxies become fainter? Could spacetime someday be torn apart by the dark energy that is speeding up the universe's expansion? Would it be conceivable for the rest of the cosmos and our planet to suddenly and unexpectedly vanish one day?
